Pat grew up in Australia, and there trained and worked as a Neurophysiotherapist. After a period of travelling and working her way around the world, she came to Edinburgh over 50 years ago, working in the Neurosurgery Department of the Western General Hospital. After many years in the NHS, Pat moved seamlessly across to the University of Edinburgh Department of Clinical Neurosciences in 1983, undertaking clinical research studies on acute head injuries in adults, children and infants, and has published widely on these topics. She is still an Honorary Research Fellow within the Department of Child Life and Health, despite retiring more than 15 years ago!

She has many other interests including playing early instruments in the Edinburgh Renaissance Band, singing, local history, family and friends and she loves being part of Edinburgh life.
